Weather by Apple
There is a standard weather app on the iPhone, and it can be safely called the best solution for our task. Of course, if it is properly configured.
If you accidentally or, on the contrary, deliberately deleted this app, install it using the link below.
Launch the app and allow it to use your geo position. It is best to select the “When in use” option.
Immediately, the location will be detected and you will see the weather on iPhone corresponding to it. The horizontal list shows it by hours, and the vertical list shows it by days.
Note: If you have previously installed the Weather app and it has not correctly detected your geolocation or requested the appropriate permission, please read the article below and follow its recommendations.
Below is some important information such as sunrise and sunset times, chance of precipitation, humidity, wind speed, pressure, etc.
If the location was determined incorrectly, you want to specify it yourself, or you simply want to add another location to the list of locations displayed by the app, do the following:
Tap on the list button located in the lower right corner.
Then tap the icon noted in the image below.
Use the search to find the place you want to see its weather in the application interface. Start typing its name, and then select the appropriate option from the prompts, and then it will be immediately added to the general list and available for viewing.
If necessary, add one or more additional localities in the same way. You can switch between them directly by swiping across the Home screen
If necessary, their order in the list, and thus on the main application screen, can be changed by simply dragging (pinch and pull).
Note! Here, under the list you can select the units of temperature – C° or F°. By default they are defined according to the common units for the region.
In order not to run the application every time you want to see the weather, you can add its widget. This is done as follows:
- While on the Home screen (first), swipe from left to right to open the widget page.
- Swipe down through the list of items on it and tap “Change”.
- Now scroll down the list of apps for which widgets are implemented, and find the Weather among them. Tap the plus sign to the left of the name.
The widget will be added to the end of the list, but it can be moved to any convenient place if necessary – to do this, just press the right edge and pull in the desired direction. To save changes, click “Done”.
Moving the Apple Weather widget to the top of the list on iPhone
Now the weather for the main locality (the first in the list added to the app) will be displayed on the widget screen. It can be minimized and expanded, and the main app opens with a tap.
Among the many services and applications of Yandex there is one that solves our problem – Ya.Weather, the configuration of which we will proceed further.
Using the above link, install the application on your iPhone and run it.
Grant permission to access the geo-position by selecting the “When used” option in the window with the request.
Next, if you want to receive notifications, “Allow” them to be sent in the next window.
Your location will be automatically detected and the corresponding information will appear in the main Ya.Weather window.
As with Apple’s Weather, the data is displayed horizontally by hours and vertically by day.
Additionally there is an option to “Open precipitation map”, “Show on map” location and “Report” other weather if it is very different from what you see outside your window.
View more information about the weather and specify your own in the Ya.Weather app on iPhone
If the geolocation was not defined correctly, or if you simply want to see information about another location in the app:
- To add it, bring up the menu and use the search.
- Enter a city name, and then select it in the search results.
- The found settlement will be immediately added to the main Ya.Weather window.
- If you wish, you can add a city to your favorites by tapping on the star, after which it will be also placed in the appropriate list in the menu.
Sorting, editing and deleting is also available there.
In the application settings, which are called by clicking on the gear in the main window, you can specify the units of temperature, wind and pressure, allow or disallow notifications, specify the location for which the weather information is displayed, as well as determine for which location and in what form the data will be displayed on the widget.
You can add a widget using the algorithm, discussed in point 4 of the previous part of this article.
It can be deployed and configured.
One of the most popular services providing information about the weather in the world also has its own app for iOS. It is available in two versions – free and paid, and below we will look at how to set up and use the first one.
Install the application on your iPhone and launch it.
Go to the “Nearby” tab and tap “Request access”.
In the pop-up window, allow Gismeteo Lite to use your geo position.
Immediately after this a list with the nearest airports and weather stations as well as populated places will appear in the application window. Select the one that corresponds to your location.
You will see the weather for the selected location, which by default is displayed by the hour.
From the same window you can go to Gismeteo Lite settings, where you define the units of measurement, choose the location that will be displayed on the widget (current or self-defined, which we’ll talk about later), and some other parameters.
To add another location, go to the “My Locations” tab and use the search to find it.
Once you select a suitable result in the output, it will be added to the list of points from which you can go to the main application window.
You can “Edit” the list itself.
And the location for which the weather is displayed – “Add to Favorites”, “Open Gismeteo website” and show “Precipitation Radar”. These options are available by tapping the triple dot in the upper right corner.
Gismeteo Lite also has a widget. We have already written above about how to add it and it looks as follows:
The widget can be minimized and maximized, and you can simply tap it to switch between the weather information by hour and by day.
